About the CALIFORNIA OPEN
The 2011 California Open Exhibtion is the sixth annual jurried art competition sponsored by TAG Gallery, located at Bergamot Station Arts Center, Southern California's largest art gallery complex and cultural center. The exhibition recognizes excellence in a diverse range of media and offers artists exposure at a world-class destination.

ELIGIBILITY:   Open to U.S. residents, 18 years or older, working in fine art media. Categories include Computer Art, Drawing, Mixed Media, Painting, Photography, Printmaking, Sculpture. No video, film or installations or artwork that requires special installation. Work must be original. Entries are limited to a maximum of six works completed since 2006 and not shown previously at TAG Gallery. (TAG artists are not eligible.)

SPECIFICATIONS:   Frames, mats and wiring must be professional quality. No saw-tooth hangers. Wiring must be in good condition and substantial enough for the weight of the artwork. Two-dimensional works on paper must be framed and under Plexiglas. Delivered work must match the accepted entry image. No substitutions of accepted works will be allowed. All accepted work must remain in the gallery for the duration of the exhibit. Prices quoted on the entry form may not be changed after acceptance.

SIZE RESTRICTIONS:   Hanging works are limited to 48" height x 36" width including frame and may not exceed 30 lbs. per unit. Sculptures may not exceed 40 lbs.

ACCEPTED WORK:   Accepted artists will receive instructions for shipping and hand delivery. There is no charge for walk-in hand delivered work. There is a handling charge of $60 for shipped work. Shipping costs and insurance are the responsibility of the artist. Shipped artwork must be accompanied by a pre-paid shipping label or airbill. Reusable shipping cartons only. No wood crates or Styrofoam peanuts. CATALOG: Accepted artwork will be featured in an exhibition catalog available for purchase. TAG Gallery reserves the right to reproduce accepted artwork for publicity and documentary purposes, including the exhibition catalog. All copyrights are retained by the artist.

LIABILITY:   Artwork will be handled with the utmost care. TAG Gallery and its representatives will not be responsible for loss, theft or damage to artworks while in the gallery’s possession or in transit.

SALES:   All work must be available for sale. There is a 40% commission to TAG Gallery on sales during the exhibition and 30 days subsequent to the close of the exhibition. No work may be removed from the gallery until close of exhibition.

AGREEMENT:   The submission of entries to this competition constitutes an agreement on the part of the artist to all rules and conditions as set forth in this prospectus.

DIGITAL FILES:   Submitted work must be in JPG format, saved at 300 dpi (dots per inch), exactly 4 inches at the widest dimension, maximum file size of 1MB. Submitted work must be correctly oriented (vertical or horizontal). For two-dimensional work, one digital JPG per entry. Three-dimensional work may have two views per entry.

IMAGE LABELING:   JPG files MUST BE saved as follows:

DISCLAIMER:   Entries not meeting the criteria listed above will be disqualified and the entry fee will not be refunded.

ENTRY PROCEDURE (ONLINE ONLY):   All entries must be submitted online. Visit the TAG Gallery website at http://www.taggallery.net for details and the application process. Online entries will not be accepted after June 15, 2011.

FEES:   $40 for one to two entries. Additional entries $10 each; maximum six entries. All fees are non-refundable and payable online through PayPal, which accepts credit and debit cards.

NOTIFICATION:   Results of the jurying will be e-mailed no later than July 18, 2011. A list of the accepted artists will also be posted at www.taggalllery.net after July 25, 2011.
